This is the first modern bike that I've built.

I couldn't afford to buy a really nice bike outright. So I've been buying this piece by piece at knock-down prices over the last 2 years. I started with the frame, which I found described as a "Botticelli" on ebay and it for €52.

It seemed a more rewarding option than getting a shiny new bike on credit.

It's been a steep learning curve but I've got it all together now. It looks a little rough around the edges in places, but it performs beautifully and I'm proud of how it's come out.

Weight wasn't my primary concern when building it, so I was chuffed when it came in at 8.6kg sans-pedals. Super-light for a steel frame.

The whole thing cost me around £600 ($900ish us). I think...
