Nope. Good luck though. What do you think you'll finish with time wise?

Keep us updated on how the race goes. Sounds painful.

Looks brutal. Have you rode much in SoCal before?

No idea. Right now the goal would be to finish. I'll have to ask my buddy what time he got last year. They actually stop the time at about mile 75 (top of the last climb) so people aren't risking safety for a good finishing time on the descent.

Think that's the point.

Never have, Dean. You? It sounds like a long way to go for a ride, but we got pretty cheap ($75 each way) tickets to LA now.

So then people kill themselves to get to that point. I fail to see how that would help. I take it it's a killer downhill?

Must be. Looks like from the profile that the last 38 miles or so are pretty much all downhill!

I've done it the past three years. Might do it again even though it's on my anniversary this year.

It's a tough ride but Chuck B. makes a party out of it.

Xela, I read the race description. Sounds like a very good time. I'm not sure I'd want to be out there for the full 114 but that first race, the 50 miler, sounds very doable without losing a lung. I feel you can determine the best rider in 50 miles of cliff climbing. No need to turn it into a death march. Still, I'll bet the views are fabulous and to make the whole course if you are only a casual rider would be quite a feat. It would also be some kind of experience coasting 40 miles downhill. I think I read that right. The return at some point is all downhill for 40 miles? That would be pure joy. Just be careful to reduce tyre pressure 10-15 pounds to make space for the expanding tyre air due to heat buildup of the rims from braking. They will get very hot and blow 120 pound tyres quickly if you lay on the calipers for long stretches.
