Tax credit for bicycle commuting

Seems there is a credit you can receive for commuting by bicycle. Sounds as if you have to get your employer involved to make it happen but it may get you a few bucks every now and then.

The article has links to more information. Tax Credit for Bicycle Commuting

You have to go up in order to come down. Why is the up part always so steep?

They have a similar program going on in the UK, but the credit is towards the purchase of a bike. I think you can actually get your bike for about 1/2 off, or something along those lines. It's called the Green Transport Plan.

Is it a Federal Program and does it cost the employer anything?

It looks like it is a federal program the employer has to get involved with.

Here is a link to how it works. League of American Bicyclists * News

Unfortunately, I know my employer -- not a chance they'd go for it, too much work for too little return.
