Are you talking about welding steel to aluminum? It's possible only with some type of intermediary that is half aluminum and half steel (so technically you are NOT welding the two together, but are )

Welding the two different types of metal causes dissimilar metal corrosion at the joints. This causes intergranular corrosion and splitting inside the weld where you are not able to see and requires and eddy current inspection to be used to find the corrosion. Plus, aluminum melts at such a lower temp then steel that you would really have get the style flowing and then just set the aluminum in the puddle and hope it melts together properly. The welding can be done but the dissimilar metal corrosion would be the problem in the long run.

Like on engine blocks. They are aluminum with steel rings around the combustion chambers and cylinders. The steel has a coating between it and the aluminum that prevents the metals from corroding each other so the engine can stay together. You guys probably have something like that going on instead of the metals being welded together.

If I remember right, part of the molecules from the aluminum transfer to the rings around the nucleus of the steel and it causes the aluminum to return to a white salt looking powder.

That is the ugliest bike I have ever seen. Give me one for free and I would strip the components and scrap the frame.

I find the look interesting. Like anything new, it can be off-putting, but I find it grows on me. It seems it might also offer benefits. Though I am a fb member , I'm not entering the contest because I try to limit my commercial interactions there. I'd be interested in seeing more pics of the bike posted here, preferably in action .

definitely better for willing! and I'm also loving the exterior look too Simi!
and it's so obvious who would not take a free bike.

weird bike, weird responses too.
The proof is in the pudding, I'd have to ride it before I pass judgement on this interesting project. Is the juice worth the squeeze?
