Never heard of him. What's he a BMX or recumbent cross country rider?

Moots, just looked up Overend. Good name for a mountain biker. End over end.

Really, a man who picks up cycling in his middle age is the best cyclist? Eddie Merckx could roll out of bed today and beat Endoverend at any cycling event. Can name about 300 others who could do the same.

You've got low standards even though I'm sure Endoverend is a good bloke.

Already read it Moots. But thanks for including. Mountain bike racers do not overly impress me. Sorry.

Interesting tid bit about The Lung:

"During a recent VO2 max test done on Ned Overend who has never had a coach and prefers chasing down riders on Tuesday night training rides to doing hill repeats measured 71.1 ml/kg/min which put the 53 year old mountain biker in the highest "Olympic" category for 20-29 year old males. The even more significant number was that his last VO2 max test was done in 1987 and he measured 72 ml/kg/min."

Since we are laying them out for measure: I posted earlier a V02 max of 88 as a 19-year-old. V02 max numbers mean almost nothing. It's about pain threshold. No doubt Endover is very good. But he has a lot of 2nds and 3rds and 4ths and such on that resume. Only wins count. And then they had better be international events like Merckx and LeMond and that group.

No reason this man can't be your hero. After reading about him I think he's a sweetheart too. And a good rider.
