1973 Schwinn Breeze

Hi,

I just picked up a one-owner Schwinn Breeze 3-speed in fantastic and original condition.

I had to replace the tires, since the rubber was starting to rot, and I now have a problem...

I cannot find a replacement rear axle-nut anywhere! With a caliper it measures 10mm, but no 10mm nut I buy seems to work (e.g. 10x1.00, 10x1.25, 10x1.50). I have even experiment with SAE, but nothing fits.

Please help! What is the size of the rear axle-nut?

(I will send pictures later, but now am quite frustrated - to say the least).

I'm just guessing here... any chance it's SAE (not metric)?

3/8 SAE is corse thread, maybe it is NF 3/8 fine thread, or it could be Witworth, I don't think it would be Witworth

I had one of those bikes when I was kid...or was it the Speedster? I don't remember, but they both came with the Archer 3 speed rear ends, but some came with Schwinn 3 speed and company that made that rear hub is unknown some were Archer and some weren't. If this is the case call these people and check to see if this is the correct part, hopfully its the left side you need: Sturmey Archer 3-speed axle nut, left-hand. | BikepartsUSA
