BCA brand

I saw a touring bike on Craigslist (no pic though) made by a now defunct American company out of PA called a BCA, Bicycle Company of America. I did some internet searching but couldn't find much other then it may have been made by Ross. It's a steel frame bike with AL components and wheels, and most if not all Ross bikes used steel wheels. The owner bought it from another person for his son some years back to take to college but it didn't fit him and the son decided he wanted a car instead. The owner thinks it was built in the early 80's but he's not sure.

I'm going to go look at it and see what it's all about, but I thought if anyone by some slim chance had some heads up info on those bikes it would be great.

Thanks

froze,

I bought a couple of BCAs in the early ninetys. I have mine away 2 years ago. My son's BCA is still here. It is a 5 speeds, aluminum rims and an arse hatchet. I could go out to the shed and look at it. I think that they sold for less that $200.

Yeah, that's what I'm slowly coming to understand about the BCA's so I doubt buy it. At the very least I'll go look at and learn a little about a brand I never heard of nor can find much info on the web about them. If by some extremely slim chance the components are decent I may buy it to strip those but I doubt that will happen.

He knows very little about the bike, he was at work when I called, but he knows nothing of the model name nor the components on it, he called it a touring bike but I doubt he knows what it is since he's not a bike fanatic at even the tiniest wee bit! He wants $100 for it, which I'm sure some dope will buy for that since they sell Varisty's around here for more then that which I would only take if they gave me money to take it off their hands and take it to a recycler!!!! I'm 58 and those Varisty's, Suburban's and Collegiate's were junk when they were new! and their even junkier now. But I digress, anyway I have a feeling the BCA is like those Varisty's...junk like you said.
