Vista bikes were manufactured by Columbia bicycles of Westfield , Mass. in the early 70's. They were somewhat of a 'premium' Columbia bike (I know that sounds a bit ridiculous) that was made to compete against Schwinn. They were good quality and some of their 10 speed road bikes resembled Schwinn Varsities. Later on, some of their bikes were made overseas, as far as I can remember. The first Sting-ray type bike pictured in the first posting was similar to the other Schwinns, Ross's, etc. of their era.

You mean like this? Chatsworth, CA in the early 70‘s. You'll see a kid named Mike Dunn, who would become a Top Fuel Funny Car driver.

Being 56 years old now, I to was infatuated with the ape hanger / banana seat bikes, here's my story I posted shortly after I joined this forum.

I ran across a Vista 3 speed the other day, women's frame. It was nicely lugged , and looked decent . Seemed about as heavy as Ross bikes of the day, like the Eurotank (Eurotour) .
Nothing much to
excite the hormones
or imagination,
but good
and sturdy
transportation

If that was Chatsworth in the early 70s, he should have been on a nickel Mongoose with motomags.

72 spokes?

Where do you find these? Not that I can have one, SWMBO would be a bit. . .angry. 3 bikes for me, 2 for her seems to be the limit. . .

You're lucky. There are no decent vintage bikes where I live.
