On Craigslist for 20 bucks. And here I was just saying I don't need more bike parts laying around so I pick up a miniature 10 speed. Hopefully my kids will use it and ride with me for exercise.

The guy's dad bought it brand new from the western auto here in town and rode it till this past summer. Guys was in his 30's, about my age, 35 or so. No idea why the dad stopped but the tires are fairly new, the tubes hold air fine and the brake pads are not worn any so it had some work recently. The shifters work smoothly and shift onto every ring perfectly. The wheels are 26x1.5 or something like that, not 27s. It rides perfectly. I tried it out on the trainer, ha ha ha. It's the size of the wife's mountain bike but with skinny tires and drop bars.

Ok, it's a 10 of 86 model and my oldest son said he'll give it a run around the block and see how it does. We are restoring his GT right now and the GT will see only light road duty to the store and places like that so this western flyer will be the road bike for exercising and doing the events this coming up year for Jason. He is 13 and it will work for another year and maybe half but it will be a good starter to see if he likes road racing/riding.

Jarrod, the youngest has his Dyno bmx and the specialized I just bought him will be a Christmas present

got my oldest son to ride the western flyer around the block this morning. he said it was a lot faster then the mountain bike he has been riding lately. i have a bunch of stuff in a box i got a few months ago, shift levers and derailers and such. i told him we could tear this bike down, like we did to his GT and then paint and put it back together so he could use it for some of hte upcoming road bike events in 2013. he said that sounded like a good plan because he liked rebuilding and painting the GT.

so, the plan to get the boys on road bikes is slowly moving forward, muah ah ah ah.

Jason is too "cool" to ride a yellow bike. He didn't even like the GT after we stripped all the red back to the chrome, he wanted white

I love the looks of my GT in chrome! I'm gonna miss the huge ol bike when I trade it for this other frame.

I am so tempted to buy this GT pro series on Craigslist for 120. It's an early 90s model in all chrome with stickers in place. But I need a another bmx like I need another jeep
