A must see website.

Just in case this hasn't been posted in this forum:

Disraeli Gears - a derailleur collection

You don't see many of these models out there ... or at least I don't:

Derailleurs - a riot of colour

I don't know whether it's been posted here, but it is a killer website. All kinds of derailleur info.

Just curious... is there any value in vintage derailleurs? I mean, if you see one on a bike in a thrift shop, is it worth picking up?

It would depend on condition or price of the bike it's attached too. My favorite are the Suntour Cyclone and the Superbe. In the Italian line I'd say Campagnolo Nuovo Record or Super Record are very sought after. There's so many nice ones it's hard to say. The Huret Jubilee is gorgeous and they don't go cheap on eBay.

If your were to find any of the above attached to a thrift store bike, it's a good sign the rest of the bike as a whole might be worth looking at.

If your idea of value is performance, then one of my all time favorite is the Suntour Vx GT Lux. Easy to find, easy to afford. Works like a charm and easy to maintain.

Hopefully some others will chime in.
