These can be MTB trails or just plain old bike trails.

I'm a huge fan of the Anacostia Trail System including Paint Branch, Northeast/west Branch(s), and Sligo Creek.

Sadly, I haven't yet ridden the Capital Crescent, C&O, or many of the other notable trails in this area. Your suggestions on other trails to try are always welcome.

Not gonna lie, I went on the Paint Branch and Anacostia Trail yesterday; ride was great! Enjoyed riding next to Lake Artemesia, but it was easy for me to get lost. I meant to keep riding up to Sligo Park, but instead of turning to cross Rhode Island Ave I kept going, and ended up somewhere in Bladensburg. Won't be making that mistake next time, since my tires came close to popping on all the broken beer bottles there.

Check out the C&O canal trail from Georgetown to Cumberland, nice rides around Great Falls. and also the W&OD rail trail from Shirlington to Purceyville
