A friend of mine has a trainer that she doesn't use very much and has offered to let me borrow it for awhile, and I'll be picking it up this evening. Give me a few days to get use to it and I'll be ready to accept some challenges. Game on!

I set my Mountain Bike (Trek Antelope 800) up on the trainer tonight and my wife actually asked me if I was going to bundle up and take the Cannondale out in the morning... that's a yes! So I'm going to squeeze 20-25 miles in before heading off to work tomorrow.

Well, nothing has gone as planned this week. I haven't made it out or onto the trainer for any amount of time. I've got something going on right now that's keeping me a little preoccupied, getting on the bike would sure make it less stressful.

It's foggy and 27* outside right now (real feel 33*)... I just might go....

Motivation takes a real nose dive for me this time of year. Then the panic mode kicks in bout December when I realize the last time I road a raod bike was in October and I'm gonna get my backside handed to me on the early spring rides!

So I did end up riding yesterday morning and it was a cold one.

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/244088187

http://app.strava.com/activities/28048277

Distance: 22.27 mi
Time: 1:19:43
Avg Speed: 16.8 mph
Elevation Gain: 873 ft
Calories: 1,308
Avg Temperature: 38.9 °F (it felt much colder than this/ AccuWeather was showing 30 °F)

It was very uneventful and the pace was slow because my legs wouldn't warm up. I had to stop around mile 5 and again at mile 16 to get the blood flowing in my toes.

I tried something different with my gloves and it worked wonderfully. I have a pair of really thin Under Armour gloves that I picked up when I worked at Under Armour part time. I used them as a base and wore my Pearl Izumi Cyclones over them, I had to take the Under Armour gloves off at mile 5 because my hands were sweating so much. I'll add a picture of the gloves in another post and see if I can get an item number or name.

I'm thinking about riding about 15 miles this morning... more to come.

So, no ride today. If I was single, I'd put in at least 50 miles a day... Every day of the week. With a wife and 4 kids, those 50 mile days take weeks of planning and sometimes I'm lucky to even get a ride in. My wife is determined that my bike is my mistress (so I'm saving up to get my "girlfriend" a new trainer).

Once I get the new trainer, I'll be putting in at least an hour a day on it, to stay in shape for spring.

How old are the kids? Hows the baby doin since you brought him home?

I can relate to the wife ordeal, but I will give you some advice. Try getting her on a bike and things may just get better for ya!

I have twin 12 year olds, a 6 year old, and the baby is 2 months old.

I'm going to get her a bike in the spring.

Hopefully I'll have some news for everyone following my thread within the next two weeks... more to come.
