Hot dang we had a really nice afternoon yesterday, in the 50s & sunny. Come on Baby (I've named it Baby) let's go for a ride. The cooking smells brought back memories. Ham in pea soup came up a couple times.
The park was quiet so I rode up to the tower for a pic.
Looks a lot like Shot Tower (old ammo ball making facility during civil war) in Virginia.
Good rail trail below it along a river.
Is this a similar park or the same?
This view is at the downward end of a somewhat long 18% grade, the next few corners to the right are 23% with little room for braking error. It's a tough climb, but I'm equally stressed out on the descent.

New River Valley, been there and saw the shot tower a couple of times.
Fantastic shots people. I really enjoy them. Not sure if I ever mentioned this before but my fathers family is from West Virginia. I only have one cousin left living there but we used to visit for a few weeks every summer. They lived in the Ohio River Valley and I remember the hills being brutal there never mind in the mountains.

I lived in the ORV for a little more than a year. Hottest place I've ever been (humidity) and worse Mosquitos too
I dubbed it "Hell's Furnace!"
By the way, it took you an awfully long time to admit "you're kin." What's up with that!?
