I travel to the general area of the Smoky Mts. several times a year. Does anyone know of a few good rides within 30 miles of there?
I'd love to have a 20-30 miler and something above 50 miles.
Thanks.

Is this the route straight thru the park?
Do you happen to know how many miles it is?
How about the best time of day to ride .... When there is less traffic. I know. I know. There is always traffic.

Thanks a bunch for the suggestion.

Yes, it's through the park and about 26 miles, one way, from the city line of Gatlinburg to the parking lot of Cades Cove. Now if you want to go around the cove then add another 11 miles to it. I would say start early morning when the sun gives you enough light to be safe and Monday- Thursday would be good. There will not be much traffic once you get to the Y in Townsend on Wednesday as Cades Cove isn't open to cars until 10 AM so not many cars will be coming and going on that day to the Cove. I hope this helps. If you need anymore help just yell.

Any chance they have repaired the road through the cove? The last time I was through there, it has some very rough patches.
Also, how about restroom / water refill spots…do you have knowledge of any.
That sounds like a great ride. I hope to try it later in the year.

The Cove road has been completely repaved so it so smooth now. There are restrooms at the begininng of the Cove at the Bike Rental, Snack, Souvenir place and mid point at the Souvenir shop. Both are well marked and you get water at both places also.
If your coming from Gatlinburg then swing into Townsend and there is a gas station, not far from the Y, on the left that you can get food, water and restrooms.
