John - even stand up biking is not enough for glute work on a bike sometimes- the ITB like - intregrate said tightens up to do the job of the glutes when the glutes are not doing their job adequately. Because the ITB is not designed to do glute work it gets COOKED. As much as I like to do all my work on the bike - I think I would do some glute work on the mat or in the Gym if my knee was bothering me. The knee is never a primary problem without previous injury. It just gets stuck in the middle of foot or pelvis/glute dysfunction. I would hit up integrate for some nasty glute exercises. I have been ignoring his advice for a while only because I am an idiot and lazy & don't like to get off my bike.

Giving the condition a different fancy name doesn't change the fact that the condition or any non-traumatic condition of the knee is due to abnormal foot, pelvis biomechanics or in-direct dysfunction of the same due to weak core - again Integrate's specialty on this forum

Just got back from the doctor's office and the good news is that it's not ITBS. He said it's tendinitis and the bad news is that I'm off the bike for at least two weeks. Then, it's slow and short rides, in low gears, for a few weeks building up to where I left off. I guess I'll have to get the hybrid ready.

Well, that's true! I guess that since the wife hasn't ridden in over a month that we can gradually get back into it together and then start doing our cycling tours.
