O-tus Mini Speakers - Win some from Santa!
One of our sponsors, O-tus Mini Speakers, is doing a giveaway just in time for Christmas. You can visit their site to read about them by clicking their or the link above.

You can also check out the review by one of our members here.
Contest rules are pretty simple. Just post your short essay in this thread as to why you think you deserve them. We're looking for brief, but compelling stories. Do you miss your tunes because you don't want to wear earbuds in your ears? Spent all your money on rare yak yarn to knit your grandma's favorite cat a sweater, and don't have the coin to get yourself some O-tus Mini Speakers? Whatever the reason, just share it before midnight, December 14th, 2012. Winners will be notified the following day, so that their prizes can be shipped in time for Christmas.
Good luck!

I need them so I can listen to self help tapes about spending to much money on cycling gear.

Deserve is a strong word but I will start my argument as to why these most bad@$$ headphones should be given to me:
1. My "motivational" music is typically bands like All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, Slayer, etc. If I do manage to listen to my music when riding in a group it's blasting out of my smartphone, and cycling buddies are wondering whether I am riding or conjuring demons. (I think it's a little of both). I like to torture myself.
2. I have resorted to not listening to music when I ride because of my "extreme" music tastes. Therefore I am no longer motivated, and my average speeds have went down to 11mph, making me tired of seeing my cycling buddies @$$ from being dropped on every ride.
I think they're frigging awesome and I would love to have them.

I have no compelling reason or sad sack story. In fact, I relinquish my chance to someone more deserving. Besides, I got a new pair of socks on the way

Anyone else? Personally, I'd like to see some members win these so we can get their opinions on them.

I love listening to music when I work out, but have been unable to take my tunes out when I cycle. I have grave safety concerns over wearing earbuds and thereby rendering myself deaf to surrounding sounds.
I know people cycle with earbuds, walk with them, too. I regularly get dirty looks from pedestrians with their music up too loud to hear my overtake warning out on the MUPs.
A few months ago here in CO, we had a woman walk out in front of a light rail train, causing a horrific accident, because she couldn't hear the train's clatter and dinging warning bell over her iPod.
Such voluntary deafness worries me. A lot. Even on the MUP, I just feel I lose too much situational awareness if I can't hear what's going on around me. Move to sharing the road with automotive traffic, and earbuds become a serious safety issue for me. I'd rather cycle with nothing than to miss that one critical sound which makes the difference between finishing the route safely or being hit.
No alternatives, though, until now. Since some of my music includes some really brutal profanity, I prefer to keep it to myself and those who know what they're getting into. Even traditional non-bud earphones still block way too much 'outside' sound for my taste, and there's no way I'm just cranking up the sound on my phone.
Enter O-tus mini speakers. If I don't win these, I'll be buying some, sooner than later. I really love the placement of the speakers near but not in/on the ears.
This appears to make it possible for me to enjoy my tunes without either deafening myself to other audio input, or inflicting my musical tastes on everyone else.
Whoever wins these, please post a review. I appreciated seeing Mars' review recently, but remain interested in further info and feedback on these things.
Thanks to Hack and the manufacturer for getting the givaway set up!

Giving a pair of these ear buds to Synack would make a whole lot of people happy.
1: everyone that rides around him will get some peace and quite.
2: everyone that rides with him will be able to complete a 20 mile ride in under 2 hours.
Thats a Win Win!!
