Hi all ,
I'm new to this forum and it looks great, however I am new to biking and was wondering if somebody could give me some advice? My bike is going up and down gears more or less ok, however when I stop peddling it swings?

I don't think it's the derailleur. Looks like the pawls inside the freebub body aren't disengaging when you stop pedaling. Could be a broken spring inside the body.

Somebody else advised that too, that also said it may just need lubricating ? It may not be broken as it a brand new bike

If it's a brand new bike it may need less lubricating. If the pawls were overgreased, the excess may be impeding their ability to retract when you stop pedaling. The bearings do need grease; too much and it seeps over to the freehub body and mucks up the pawls. The pawls/freehub body just need oil. I'd take it apart, clean it, be a little sparing in the use of grease for the bearings on the drivetrain side, and use a little oil around the pawls, not grease (or have the shop do it for you).

That would be a much easier fix! Plus, it's Occam's Razor. Hope it's that for the OP's sake.

Lose the plastic guard you mean? I could try that yes, I have been using the bike the last few days and it still does it, is there any chance no matter how small the if the gears are not set right it could cause this? As I don't think they are quite right because when I change Down it does not go to the lowest sprocket , thank you all for your advice too, I'm very new to biking

1. Yes, lose the guard.
2. No, derailleur adjustment is not causing your original problem.
3. Your new problem could be a limit screw issue.

Did you buy this brand new bike from a shop? They need to make it right free of charge.

PS. Rethink on 2 above, is your upper derailleur pulley contacting the cassette at any time? Couldn't tell from the vid.

I agree, too much sticky grease in the rear hub or the pulley is set to close to the cassette. You should be able to identify the problem just by listening to the different sounds coming from the rear hub area. Good Luck.
