I have a Shimano E-type front derailleur that got slightly bent in a crash causing the shift ratio to change a bit and the cage to rub the chain. It looks like an easy fix to tap the cage with a plastic tap hammer to bend it back
to normal, but I wonder if anyone else has any ideas?

I'd probably try with an adjustable crescent wrench before going to the hammer.

I have bent many front derailleurs back into shape using an adjustable wrench. It's as simple as it seems it should be. Don't use a hammer.

Hey thanks for the wrench tip, qmsdc15 and Noel... that did the trick. I was worried about the hammer idea... not as precise as the wrench and could have done some damage to my derailleur.
