Best Rear Rack

I'm looking for a rear rack for my mountain bike to treckking bike transformation.
What do I need to look for in a heavy duty rack?
Saw one on e-bay for $19.00 that is rated 55lbs.

What are your opinions?

I drive a Jeep Cherokee and a Chrysler Town and Country.
But I'm looking for a rear rack for my Mt. Bike to trekking bike transformation. It's a trek 820 hard tail. Something that is heavy duty, since I'm making square 5 gal bucket panniers.

Any bike rack should do the job. The 55lbs limit is a lot of bike or 2 bikes. Totally outfitted your bike may weigh much more but to carry a loaded bike on the rack is not feasible, panniers are carried in the vehicle then loaded on the bike before you start riding. So any rack designed to carry a bike or 2 on your vehicles will do just fine.

You have to go up in order to come down. Why is the up part always so steep?

I'm laughing tonight. I don't think I was clear enough in my past two post.
I'm looking for a rack to fit on my bike to hold panniers. Not a rack to find on my car to carry my bike.
Sorry

I have a Cherokee and I just use the top rack. I wouldn't want to put a back rack on either.

I have a Blackburn rack on my mountain bike. I think it's almost indestructable, but if you're carrying so much your rack might break, other parts will probably let go too!

(Like your knees, your lungs, your rear hub...)

So if you can manage the weight, any sturdy rack should be up to it. 55 pounds is quite a lot (that's about a third of my body weight, which I wouldn't want to hang on the back of my bike).

Hope I'm allowed to post links here.

I think you got away with it

I've had a look online and an equivalent rack over here (England) would cost $30 to $50, if that's any help.
