My wife picked up the bike with a grand total of $42.00 Told you guys there was nothing to worry about

I immediately got on the bike when I got home and for the short term at least all problems seem to be solved. Very satisfied considering the ordeal.

Still disappointed over the whole shop closing deal but what can you do. I dont know the story but if I find out will let you know.

Thanks for all the input once again fellas.

New shift cable, and worked on my sti. The grinding in the back was evidently spokes rubbing against the clear guard, though I could not for the life of me see evidence of it when I checked. Guess thats why they have pros huh?

Took the bike out this morning for a 27 miler and all seemed good as new.

They could have taken bad loans, who knows, but I would say if the business is done so is your maintenance.

It's fun and easy to do all the stuff they did. Gradually learn how to do your own tune ups. Get one of the "how to" books and go at it. Some people don't like wrenching and are happy to pay a pro (me too sometimes), but it's definitaly a doable skill for almost anyone.
