Cycle Paint?

Is there a specialty made Bike Paint? I bought a Karate Monkey that got painted over, and they did a hack job. I wasn't looking for anything fancy I would be happy with flat black.

Hi, Farnsworth -

I believe most bikes are powder-coated. This means the paint is in powder form; the frame is given an electric charge, which attracts and holds the powder, which is then baked onto the frame.

The only other way I know to do a decent job is to paint it just like a car is painted.

I've used decent quality spay paint and as long as you disassemble and tape off you should be alright.

Prep work is most important. So is temperature and dust control. You can do a decent rattle-can job if you pay attention to those three items. A fresh powdercoat should be just under $100.

For repainting a bike I would suggest either Spectrum Powder Works or CyclArt, Bicycle painting, restoration, vintage bikes and classic parts
