Had every good intention to ride today - spend 5 hours learning how to train patients to use Kettlebells by performing them ourselves - glutes are happy & sad all at the same time, getups, KB deadlifts - single & double handed, squats - etc - I am done!
The couch deserves my old butt today.

I'll ride in cold. I'll ride in high wind. I'll even ride in snow, and while it continues to fall. I've even got pics . Sadly, all of those conditions combined in the form of a blizzard is giving me a pause. I want to give it a try, and I will - but likely not this storm . I'd like more experience in less severe conditions and some clothing upgrades, first. I hope those of you who manage to get out have great rides, fun and with all the challenge you're looking for.

Rode 27 miles today and I'm sore. Really sore. This is because my previous highest mileage on my new bike is 7 miles. The 400% rule is a little more than I can handle!

Hands started getting really, really numb with about 5 miles left, to the point where I couldn't feel my shifter with my right hand. Not to mention my butt is fairly sore from the new saddle. But, I just had to have a high-mileage day.

Decent day to ride. It was supposed to rain, but I only ran into 1-2 light drizzles. It was basically a dry ride, and temps in the mid-upper 70s.

There is lot of talk about wind. I have live in Florida, Texas and South Dakota. Now I live in New Mexico. No trees and 5000 feet in the air. There is not many places in this world where in the late winter and early spring were the wind blows every day,all day. It will blow at 50 mph constant with no let up and with no trees to block the wind. In addition the sand well blind you and hit your skin like needles. Wind all day here is like, a hail storm with a tropical storm for hours at a time on the gulf coast. I guess what I am saying, if you are not in the high desert, the wind could be worse. Get out and ride. The resistance is good for you.

We average 20-25 steady wind with 45 gusts. Normal everyday life on the beach.

Yeah, that wind you're talking about once flipped over a U-Haul truck my cousin was driving. His 3 or 4-year-old daughter, my second cousin, was feared trapped beneath the flipped U-Haul truck. Fortunately, she wasn't ejected from the vehicle and was in an area where the truck's frame protected her.

If the wind is over 20 MPH, I usually use it as an excuse to go trail riding in the woods. Either way, I get my exercise in.

Well today's race was interesting. Last time I may have come in 9/30 but today I managed 21/24, funny how things work out. Today was a ideal race day though, upper 60s, with zero wind, the sun shining bright. As with all the other races I was racing in the 15-18 juniors category (even though I'm 14 that is my racing age). But for some reason (I believe the reason was I got 6 hours of sleep) I could not hang on for more than a lap, the first lap there were 8 attacks, I simply could not keep up, even one of my teammates that usually is in the top 5 finished below me. It seems like it was not a good day for some of us. Yet Steven took 5/24 and in women's Stephanie took 2/28. This was the 4th race at the same course and we are all starting to get sick of the place. We were supposed to race at another location but someone messed up. The good thing is we only have one more race at this location. All in all I am not disappointed, it was only my 4th race, I look foreword to the next one and hopefully a better placement.

Don't get down on yourself. One thing you might consider- give yourself an off day before race day. Your legs need a chance to recover. They will feel like "wild horses" if you give them just a little rest. You have been training incredibly hard. Look around on those days your showing up at coaches house and only 5 other people are there- did the others who weren't there do better than you on race day? Rest is as important as training. Keep it up. Your doing great.

I will gladly accept that advice, perhaps the next optional day I will take off. My next race is next weekend, I cant wait!

Good advice, in fact, depending on how tired you are, take three or more before a race to ensure max performance on race day.
