7 tonight. First time in two weeks. Thinking I need a trainer to help up my mileage.

Can't get in to see my doctor until Monday at the earliest. If he can't see me Monday, it's off to a walk-in clinic. Don't want to stay off the bike too long as I have had a crappy ride month for October.

my first long ride was this morning at sunset. 28 miles

http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1861988

dang wind came up on the last five or so miles and dropped my riding speed from 17mph to 12-13mph. i wondered when it started blowing because it never blows when i walk into work but its howling when i get out for lunch.

i also realize that i need to adjust my bar angle because i had to keep moving my hands around because they would start hurting after a few miles. i think those angle bars, not the curved normal road bike bars, but the ones that have the straight angles, would be better. i think they are called triathalon bars.

i have another 30 mile ride next weekend so i wanted to see how a ride like that felt before i actually did one. not bad at all, 1h 43m is easy cruising so i should be faster on the ride next week as it is one way with no wind at all and no elevation changes. there were some hills on my ride today and the roads are horrible down town, torn up and bumpy.

i saw a ton of other folks riding though so that was cool. i never see anyone where i ride during the week. i guess the 25-30mph headwind deters most people from doing my normal route

got in about twenty between the night cruise last night and the bars we went to after. man, riding in a group downtown at night is the coolest feeling on earth. we stopped by a corner store for some beers and went to one on the checkpoints for the alley cat race that was going on, Hayes Bridge which gives you like a ground up look at the SA skyline, and drank said beers and cheered on the racers.

I was very in touch with my inner hipster last night and it was really cool to meet so many people from the downtown cycling community. it really is a different world riding in the streets of downtown as opposed to the long hilly roads of the burbs.

That's sweet man. I didn't know there was a group like that in downtown San antone. We used to live just in the loop, by lackland bit went to the riverwalk/downtown area a lot. It's a decent area to have fun in when you have little cash or just want to walk

Just did 11 miles in 48* temps and 21mph winds. It was exhilarating but a hard ride at times with the headwinds. I was on the mtb to boot, so it was a good workout. Trying to get back in the routine of increasing my daily mileage after being sick through September and part of October. I'm trying to rebuild my stamina. So far, so good!

Just did 24 miles in 77 degree weather. It was sunny and clear, kinda hot actually.

Sometimes a headwind is really a tailwind, and sometimes a tailwind is really a headwind, to your development. Deep Thoughts.
