If the bike is CF, would it be as bad as it would be on aluminum or steel?? Regardless I wouldn't want it subjected to it either. Trouble is that if I had to drive with a bike on the back and there needed to be salt on the road, the back is the last place I would want to put a $5000 bike. Some jerk going too fast and hitting an icy patch rear ending me and taking out my bike, well I wouldn't be very happy. I wouldn't want to be on a bike and hit that same ice patch and slide out in front of a car. IF I really had to carry one in winter, I would probably break it down enough to get it inside the car or trunk if possible.

I'm not sure, but it says nylon, so I would think it would be pretty light.
