Rain, rain and more rain comeing, now I have no plan for the Tour De Tuckahoe, but I will go if I have to put a shower cap on my leather saddle.

Got a nice cool, misty 37 mile ride in this morning. Felt better than yesterdays ride but ended up being a skosh slower...not anything really measurable as far as being slower but RWGPS does reflect it. My ride partner wanted to really punish me today by doing my Nemesis the dreaded Davenport hill twice!! I'm absolutely pathetic at riding any kind of hill so the thought of going back and hitting that again was more than I really wanted to think about! But I guess it's how we get better, stronger and hopefully faster.

Dead legs and a seemingly demonic headwind that knew my every turn made this pit stop on my 52 miler a welcome retreat!

Also , I seem to have jumped on the turtle rescue wagon that Zela started!

Rola,
That is awesome .... to do what is dreaded, not once but twice. Keep your riding friend close. They will help push you to be better AND, IF you listen, you will find a place to test / push them as well.

Hazy,
I like that picture.
I look for places like that, when traveling the back roads of this great country.
I wonder though, was it the store or the "party ice" that lead you to stop there?

Dos,
It is a bit warmer today ( 90*) than I have been used to so that is why my bike was sitting next to the icebox!
In reality though, the gatorade and water refill was why I stopped.

It seems to me, and I think I saw it on Alex's FB as well, the wind has just been brutal this spring for some reason. I gota say it again, I have been lucky to have some super strong riders and awesome group rides this spring to pull me along and make my numbers....inflated

Rode what I call "the flats" this evening. Funny name, since there is more than 1000 feet of climbing Temps in the 80's and humid. Felt like mid Summer and for some reason, I felt great.
Total distance was close to 29 miles. The best part were some of my 2 and 5 mile splits.
They were nice enough for a big, early season smile and "atta-boy" for a slowpoke like me.

The best part of yesterday's ride was 2-fold: I figured out how to make my schrader-only bike pump inflate a presta-equipped tube enough to get me back on the trail after my first flat on my new bike. After getting the tube aired up as much as possible, I decided to turn around. Because I wasn't walking home, I got to enjoy the 20-25mph tailwind I'd previously been fighting as a headwind. 13mi total, nice evening run, even with the wind. New pump is already waiting in my pack for the next ride.

Got a nice easy 45 miles in with a new guy today. It'a amazing the difference in intensity from a 17 mph ride to 19 or 20 for me. Doesn't sound like a big difference but the body knows! Bright sunny day by the end of the ride. I think the wind blew pretty strong today from every point on the compass rose again today.
