Some info

Maybe a little info will help get some comments going.

Allegro 2x chain ring 50/39/30 cassette 11/32 9 speed wheel 700x35c
Explorer 2 chain ring 48/38/36 cassette 14/34 7speed wheel 26x1.95.

Looks to me like the Allegro will be faster, but will I be giving up to much grunt for an old man to handle I am 64 1/2, 245# I ride a 10 mile root most every day. I use the 36 chain ring with the 2nd lowest gears to get up some of the hills around here with my Explorer.
So what do you think.

Don't have any personal experience with the bike but after looking at the review, it looks like a good deal. I would go for it!

I went and road the Allegro 2x to day put 7 or 8 miles on it, but not for me. I have A verry bad sholder and the rideing position put a lot of strain on my sholder I am allmost upright on my Explorer. The gearing was real nice and the shifters worked smoth. It climbed the hill I was woried about with lots of gears to spare and it had a lot of speed . All in all If it werent for my sholder it would have came home with me
