Metric Century Trainer Challenge

Stormy's Rides has inspired me to set up a Metric Century Trainer challenge. Looking for some ideas & dates. I think it would be cool to be on the same date but that is maybe not possible. For the last couple of years I have ridden my age and since it always falls on Ground Hog's day (in case you want to send me presents) it is always on the trainer. Since I achieved the outdoor version this summer I can't see doing any less inside. The challenge could be just to finish. I am going to try to come close to the parameters that I have set up in the Midwest Bike Trainer challenge for 25 miles but try to keep the same average for 62. Can this be accomplished on the same day or do we just want to post a completed metric century as enough of an accomplishment. I know Stormy's rides have had huge elevations and wind, we won't be able to match that on our trainer's unless you come to my house and ride the Tour de France stages which really suck and are very realistic. But defeating boredom and lack of coasting is in itself a challenge to a small degree. Let me know who is up for the challenge.

Im up for it. I dont know that I can do something like this on the weekdays, at least not on my current schedule. However, I should be able to do so on the weekend. With the weather taking a nose dive I dont have any rides planned for this weekend. If that holds out I can try make an attempt at it this weekend. I still need to set my other baselines though, which those I could possibly do during the weekdays.

Stormy - this challenge I believe is simply to complete it - however if baselines are in we then have something to compare the ride to for our own personal benefit.

Understood. Im going to try and get my baselines done this week as part of my trainer cardio workouts. The metric century will take a bit longer so I will plan on trying to complete that this weekend.

You guys do realize what's next and what you are setting yourselves up for after a metric century, right?

me - been there done that - about 40 days ago - outside - in some ways tougher inside due to boredom and lack of coasting - but it is just pedaling - did 25 yesterday - just multiply my ride yesterday by 2.48 plus a few minutes, another bad netflix movie, a couple of nature interruptions and a little more post soreness & fatigue - do this almost every bday when I ride my age - this is only about ten miles farther

Nov 21st - 2012

Finished metric century on the trainer, 62 miles - this was a challenge to myself - but don't ask me to try to improve it - parts were pure torture - the first 30 not so bad - just no destination

Average Cadence = 85
Average HR = 115, Max 142
Average Speed = 13.9
Time = 4:26:53
Calories = 1407

Thats just impressive. Not just the distance but the mental aspect of it as well. I hope to be in your league soon.

Anyone going to jump on this opportunity to get in a metric century - this is a finish race - not a competition - but a great thing to do if it is cold and two holidays are trying to contribute to a reduction of fitness gained during the summer
