Is is possible to weld or repair a broken aluminum frame?

Is there any way to fix a broken aluminum frame? I have two of them now. I have a Yeti AS-X that got cracked on the chain stay. I also have a Cannondale Six13 frame that got crashed and the seat stay is a little bent up. If I can't fix them, is there anything else useful I can do with them?

They can be welded, but they can't be fixed. Make some bike art.

That doesn't address the stresses that caused the frame to fail, and the new welds will cause stress risers.

Is there any way to fix it if it didn't necessarily fail, but more like got cut? I rode for a while with a wobble in my rear wheel, so it cut a groove on the inside of the chainstay...

If you weld that spot, you will have a nice strong weld, and probably a weak spot on either side of the weld from the heating/cooling it underwent during the repair. So it will most likely fail near the weld. And it will probably be exciting when it does.
