The drive-side of the rear axle sticks further out from my freewheel than the other (non-drive) side sticks out from the hub. Is this bad? I haven't yet put it back on in order to try to ride it again, but when I put it on the rear dropouts, it seems as if the not much of the axle comes in contact with the rear dropout.

What happened originally was me threading on the drive-side inner cone very far in order to make sure that enough of the axle would be protruding form the hub when I put it inside the hub shell after regreasing everything.

Sorry If I'm confusing, I'm just very new to this and trying to get better at it.

The two sides don't need to be exactly the same, but if you're using quick release, both sides must be sticking out from the lock nut less than the thickness of the dropout - otherwise the Q/R skewer will be unable to secure the wheel to the frame. If it's a solid axle, you need enough threads showing to fully engage the axle nut.
