Stem Flip?

My wifes bike a Gavin Durus, the stem runs at a downward angle and instead of buying one with an upward angle for better comfort is it possible to just flip hers over to get the same effect without compromising strength. this noob needs some help, thanks for any replies.

Yes you can. The stem holds the headset adjustment, so you'll need to adjust the headset tightness when you put it back together, but it's easy. This video shows how;

Thank you very much!! It took less than 10 min, I put it on the mag trainer and flipped it and had the wife come out and try it, made her very happy Thanks again for your input!!
