Exactly so. In a month or two -10F will feel downright toasty. After a few weeks of -50F when it warms up to -10F it feels like you can almost go out in your Tshirt. I can enjoy biking to about -20F. Under that the layers get bulky and care has to be taken to not get overheated from too much clothing and breathing while exercising becomes an issue, my glasses fog up and it's just plain work. I used to commute at those temps about 15mi each way but then I was just riding to get to work instead of working out which is more of what I'm doing now. Riding slowly isn't too tough but it's the working hard/getting sweaty that is hard to deal with. Today's the first day it didn't get above 0. Could be the last day for a few months that 0F was even a consideration.

This is the first time, in a long time, I thought to myself "WTF am I doing? I could be in bed right now, snuggled up and warm. And now I can't feel my toes and it's only been 3/4 of a mile in to my commute!"

Then I saw the first hill of the day and I felt a smile. But still couldn't feel my toes.

It was 40* yesterday on my ride but it felt cold to me, ever since I turned 68 it has bin harder to take the cold.

Today's ride will be a new low. Assuming it warms up a bit it will probably be around -20F today so I may need to wear a jacket.... . You guys riding in 50F and 60F temps should be ashamed of yourself, although I have to admit I'm burning all the fossil fuel I can in order to promote global warming which I see as a very good thing....
