I had my very first ever flat, since returning to cycling, on yesterday's ride. Lucky for me it was only 1/4 mile from the end, but I didn't realize that at the time and fixed it. Had I known it was only 1/4 mile, I would have walked it back. It took three years of cycling, 4 bikes and over 12,000 miles for me to get my first flat. Now, I can join the club.

Welcome to the club. It has been 22 months since my last flat. Last winter we had very little snow so the roads did not get treated much with the sand, salt and ground glass mixture. This winter has been different we have been getting small amounts of snow every week. The edges of the roads are covered in this mixture so I am holding my breath so to speak every time I go out.
