Dude, that is such a terrible thing to have happen. There are no words to describe how horrible the events that happened today are. An right before Christmas so now all those families have boxes of toys and no kids to give them to

All those little voices, silenced forever. As a parent my heart breaks as I think about those families. May the coward's soul rot in Hell. It's far less than he deserves!

I first found out about it while scanning my FB page and it totally floored me. Rola, I think you hit the nail on the head here. We seem to be a knee jerk reaction society that wants to fix things after the fact. If we would spend more effort on prevention without worrying about "labeling" someone with a violent mindset, we can certainly put a stop, or a large dent, into these types of actions. I grew up in the 50's and 60's, before all the political correctness and sensitivity crap, and this kind of stuff was extremely rare, not the norm as it's turning out to be.
End of rant.

Not trying to make this a pro or anti gun post, but I really don't think that guns are the problem. People have been killing people long before gun power was invented. There are a lot of sick people in this world and in this country that are fueled by media attention and media hype. AS I said in my last post, I think we need to concentrate on identifying and stopping these people before they create a tragedy. Unfortunately, we have too many organizations that won't let you do that because it singles out that person or labels them and it may hurt their feelings. There are countless numbers of after-the-fact firearms laws in this country and many of them are never enforced. But it makes the politicians look as if they are doing something about the problem.
The largest mass killing in this country, by some deranged person, wasn't that long ago. It killed and wounded more people than the last 10 mass shootings combined. In the Oklahoma City tragedy, not one bullet was ever fired. Our society is seriously broken and until we fix the source, the problems will continue. Unfortunately, there will be just as much of an opposition to that as there will be to any legislation toward more firearms regulation. We seem to be in a Catch 22 with no way out. How long have we had hundreds of anti-drug laws in place and how long have we had a drug epidemic in this country?

More armed school staff or security staff. Someone my get in and do something terrible, but the outcome could be drastically limited or avoided. Also schools may need to work on crazy a*****e drills where the staff and students learn to react. Much like tornado drills, fire drills, etc.
That's my rant

I'm not sure that I'm prepared to use the death of innocent children as a reason to open another debate about gun control. But so far, this has been very civil.
Go hug your kids. Tell your loved ones you love them. Now is the time to be with family. A long moment of silence is in order.
