Time for a beer or 2 after Saban just kicked our arse. Having a Yazoo Pale Ale.

I did BUT not as much as Blantons. I have a friend that loves his Scotch and says he prefers the 12 year old over the 18. He seems to feel he gets to much oak taste, I just thought over that much time everything would be just that much more mellow.

I'm with you. I prefer bourbon or American whiskey over the scotch. I will occasionally have a little Balvenie.

Since it's fall now, I decided to have an excellent dopplebock from Wiseacre.

Mezcal Monday

Date night:
Vino de Mezcal Cupreata from Durango. Pinas macerated with wooden mallets in tree trunk canoa, river water, wood still; rustic, rare, delicious.
Del Maguey Tepextate, yummy.
Mezcalosfera by Mezcaloteca, second US release; I must have this in my cabinet!
Real Minero Ensemble, agave Espadin, Largo, Tripon & Barril, clay distillation, 10 years rested in glass; wonderful. Interesting thing about agave-spirit aging in glass, individual flavor components become more distinct, complexity unfolds, and there is an overall softening of harsh edges. In contrast, barrel aging melds flavors and adds flavor components from the wood. Unlike agave, grain spirits remain unchanged when rested in glass.
