I don't like riding on the road in the dark, but will do it if I have some motivation, like commuting or a social ride. I love mtn biking at night. With all the LED digital systems available, and websites dedicated to home made stuff too, most bike lights are blown away!
The simple flashing units front and rear will do a lot to help your interactions with cars though! A lot of people are not "morning people" and not looking for bikes.
Here's a white LED handlebar flasher for $5.

You can send TX made hot sauces as gifts.
I take cayenne pepper capsules in the winter, with a cup of soup (and carry some TUMS). It does a lot to warm you up, in about 15 minutes! You might sweat though if you take more than 1.

Outdoor Retailer is like a multi-day funeral when there's no snow. I hope this winter is better.

This time of year when the temperatures drop I find that my schnozal fluid flows like maple sap in springtime. To relieve myself of this nasal overflow I have been known to launch a snot rocket or two.
Yes, this time of year that song is always playing in my head, you know the one.
Snot rockets in flight, afternoon delight.
As I have gotten older my hearing has gotten much worse and I am wondering if this practice may be partially to blame. My theory is that upon lift off most of the offending fluids travel down and out and hopefully over the shoulder, but some, because of the pressure involved would go up and in, travel up my eustachian tubes and block my hear hole.
The formula would be something like, hearing acuity is inversely proportional to the number of lugees launched.
Until more data can be collected I am refraining from any more launches.

Get a good supply of brown, eco-friendly paper towels from 7/11 or something. Then, if you drop one or have to dispose of it without a proper receptacle, it won't be like a big white paper napkin that remains and stands out like a sore thumb till Adopt-A-highway comes along.

I just got back from a ride in 38 degree weather, wasn't too bad actually. Just gotta dress correctly.

Sometimes a headwind is really a tailwind, and sometimes a tailwind is really a headwind, to your development. Deep Thoughts.
