started shaving when i was 18 (1991) when i was played indoor soccer. i was getting a lot of turf burn and a friend who had been playing for 2 years told me it would heal faster if i shaved, so i started.

got into lifting weights in 1999, kept shaving for muscle definition.

started riding bikes 3 months ago, i guess i fit in since i was already shaving.

so, as of today is still play indoor soccer, still lift weights, still ride bikes and still shave my legs.

my wife would agree with smiley. she loves rubbing her legs against my freshly shaved legs. she has seen them with hair once when i stopped shaving just because. she bought me a new razor, guess that was a hint.

the day i get old and stop doing all the above i might still continue to shave. to me, hair on my legs just looks gross.

oooeeewww... LOW BLOW ! I gotta say when I was 21, I probably would have said the same thing, but now that I'm 51, I tend to execpt the fact that some people are just different. I wouldn't be so worried about getting beat up, because if my wife enjoyed rubbing her legs up against my freshly shaved legs, I'd be more worried that she's one step away from leaving me for another woman.

I've never shaved and never will. Don't like shaving my face can't see much use in to many other places. Hair does keep you from healing though. I've had to cut hair out of a few scabs now and let me tell you it's no fun. I just don't have to do it often enough to see using preparative maintenance.

For the record Ian a soccer playing 21 year olds in America is probably fitter than 95% of the population so I wouldn't mess with him (American's hate soccer for two reason's 1. it's boring 2. to much running).

I've come to like American football. Watched the NFL games this past year including the Patriots vs. Florida match in London.

It's common for many to say rugby is tougher than American football because there is no padding. Maybe, but they do not hit anywhere near as hard all the time. US football is 10x more dangerous than rugby.

Never seen a serious road racer that did not shave.... maybe there are some but not very many. Still that in itself is no reason to shave.... just doing what everyone else does without questioning leads to all sorts of stupidity. I shave and I like the aesthetics of it as does my better half.

This thread has really gotten long and convoluted going into nationalistic issues and even NFL vs Rugby! I will just say on that note that I was really hoping the Vikings would make it this year! booo hoo and now baby oil (my latest method) and the razor!

I got hit by a car back in the 80's, part of my ER experience was to have the tech clean
the grit out of my road rash. The first part of this procedure was to shave the area around the wound. I would much rather shave and avoid that than go through it again.
One other possible reason to shave is friction, as in when sliding across the pavement, I seem to recall from somewhere there is less of a chance of road rash if you 'slide' over the pavement, not sure if that's true or not. The one thing I can say is that the chip 'n seal roads here make a good approximation of a cheese grater when you slide across them.

I'm not serous I don't shave. Manscaping takes time. As a father and an overworked employee I don't have the time. If ever I become unemployed I will give it a shot. My wife wants to shave my back so why not?

Until your wife says, "Hey, Hon, you forgot to take your sweater off", I wouldn't worry about it.
