As a present my wife sent me to the waxer once. It was quite an "experience". Not as painful as I thought it would be and the result was great. It lasted quite a while too but it is too expensive for ordinary use. Now during the winter I only shave once a week but come spring and it's back to 3 times.

The little lady shaves my back. I don't have a say in it. It's either that or she will tug at it when I'm not wearing a shirt which hurts like hell. I hate her sometimes.

Did they just do your legs? That doesn't sound that bad. Back and chest would bother me.

During the winter, I don't shave a thing. Full beard and legs alike. I do shave during the spring and summer, though. It may be personal preference, I don't know. But, I have crashed with and with out shaving and let me tell you.. The shaved crash healed faster and it didn't hurt like hell trying to get all of the dirt and junk out of the wound opposed to pulling out all the hair in the area. I race, crit, road, some tri's, and on occasion mountain. I don't know if it makes you feel like a pro because of the moral boost or what but, I have a little more in me after I shave. I'm 18 and the girls love it (for all of those questioning their manly-ness). Also, its not just in cycling that men shave their legs. Think, swimming, wrestling, bodybuilding, some soccer and football. (Not just the kicker either). Also, male models shave. Trust me, I have played every sport in the book and not once have I gotten ragged out, but, welcomed into the group. All I'm saying is, do whatever you want to do. Peace.

If I was a pro or raced or had an elevated chance of injury I would shave. From everything I've read and my personnel experience I would rather crash with no hair. Nothing hurts like pulling hair out of a scab!

That's funny and gross.

I laugh when she's doing it but not because I think it's funny. It is the most uncomfortable shave I have ever had.

I recall Mark Spitz poking fun of Michael Phelps over the fact that he swam with a full stache and Phelp went totally hairless.

I personally don't do it. I shaved my head once and it was too cold for me.

I think if it makes any marginal difference, wouldn't you be better off training with hair, and then shaving for your race? ... just a thought...
