Are they really that puncture resistant? I currently run a 23c and can easily put on 25c. I know a lot of tires are sold on hype to the people I ride with, and with the sucky season coming up on the road I'd like to be a bit more prepared for the bad weather. Most of them don't ride past October and my previous year-round ride was a Trek 4300.

I ride a plush road bike (Synapse 5) with Vittoria Zaffiro Pro tires on it now. I'm curious as to how something as radically different as the Armadillo would feel, however after your reply I may have to second guess that choice.

Getting weights from Specialized is a little sketchy, but I've seen mention for between 2000 and 2200 grams for my stock wheels. I've gotten used to it now, but I remember my first ride on the bike, it felt like a gyroscope spinning up so I don't doubt those claimed weights are close.

On the advice of Xela I bought a set of Conti grand prix 4000s in the spring. To date I have 1300 miles on them. This is by far the most miles I have ever put on in a summer. I rotated the tires at 800 miles just because the back was showing more wear than the front but by no means worn out. Last Sunday my sona nd I hit an unfamiliar road and I got cause in a mess of deep potholes going 35 mph.
I sliced the sidewalls pretty bad after dropping down into a hole. With a tube peeking out of the side I ordered new tires. What tire you ask....4000s again.
I have no complaints over the grip and wear of these tires.
I had a total of 1 flat over 1300 miles of various road conditions.
