Dissimilar metals can corrode or even cold weld together, but that's more likely to happen with something like a seatpost stuck in a frame.

Not a lover of carbon. My Ti Litespeed posted in the Classic section of this forum has been crashed several times. The frame is timeless and rides as well today as it did in 1997. I stay away from all carbon forks too.

Geez, this post and the other was weird so I thought I would explain myself. I called Industry Hack Mr Hack for brevity, not to insult him. I could have called him Mr Industry, but Hack was shorter and Mr for adding formality to it.

We just happen to provide the all in fun good fun teasing in Hacks direction from time to time. Most know that on the rarest of days that I can be just a tiny bit sarcastic too. lol I knew it wasn't an insult, and I didn't intend to insult him by mentioning it. Its just we usually arent that formal here. grin

You cant have a stack height higher than 40mm for an all carbon fork, it will break. I dont go over 15mm.

The feel of steel.

Have you considered going for steel? The newer steel tubing is both lighter and stiffer then ever before and you really can't beat the feel. There are allot of steel frame builders in the US hand-making some top grade stuff at competitive prices. I went from a late 70s Colnago to an aluminum Cannondale to a giant CF. I have enjoyed them all but I think next go around I am looking into custom steel. Like vinyl records, steel frames will always be with us.

Any frame of any type can be damaged. Just about any custom frame shop can repair steel, but where to go for that damaged carbon? Heres what I found out.

I'm just curious as to why you've chosen Ti. If you haven't made the ultimate choice yet, pick up Robert Penns book It's All About the Bike as it can give you an in-depth read on the pros and cons of frame construction material.

I'm jealous you get to buy a new bike
