I know I can do a half-century, and I agree it would be great to encourage participation rather than discourage due to the distance or some other factor. However, there will be a mix of riders Im sure, some more than able to do full centuries. So on the same token, I would not want more seasoned cyclist to not participate because it would not be a long distance ride.

That all said, I am up for whatever is planned. I am working my way up to a full century, I just have not pushed anything close to that distance yet. I did 55 miles just a couple weeks ago and my legs were near their limit.

Shunga starts at 25th and Fairlawn. Goes to a bout 2nd and Golden then connects to Deer Creek Trail. That goes South till about the Reesers plant and quits.

However you can take Shunga to Landon Nature trail and ride Landon for miles if your MTB. After 45th street it goes to railroad rock for a mile then pea gravel. The Peagravel a Roadie could probably handle but not the railroad rock its tough on a MTB in some spots. I did this route once and didn't even begin to crack all of Landon Nature Trail and did 21.5 miles.

Here's my ride on that. I did start at 25th and Gage vs Fairlawn though.

I could probably do a Metric Century with ya sometime if you wanna take Landon Nature Trail. It's pretty fun I think you'd enjoy it!

I think it appropriate then to plan for both , maybe a half century or a metric 100 km in the spring and a full in the fall or maybe we just make a team for one of the already planned events that r out there for the spring i know there are several here in the kc area one of my favorites is the tour de brew i metric century that takes you past all of the old breweries in kc which surprise had no idea how many there was and also past the homes of many of the old beer barons oh yeah and there is free beer, and you have food at the end to build back great fun. I think a team on something like that would be great and it is very well staffed tons of stops and sag support also one stop is at martin city brewhaus so perhaps that is a way all of us can prep for a later century

I think spring would be a good time. That way it wont be insanely hot. It would only take me about 4 hours to get to Topeka unless we were to meet somewhere else. I assume we would be shooting for a weekend date?

I like the idea of participating as a team in a planned event in the area like you mentioned as it would be the best of everything I think. All of us getting together and riding, good SAG support with plenty of places to recover if needed and scenic riding too.

I also like the idea of doing one in the spring and another meet in the fall.

I will do some research to see what the available rides are in the kansas city area in the spring and post them for opinions to see if we can put together a team for one of them i think it would be cool
