Try to find some balance between supporting your LBS, and getting the stuff you need. A good shop will do more than just sell you stuff. The kid that opened a shop a few blocks from my house knows I will buy up all his decent used parts, which is how I came to own a $400 MTB fork for $80. Plus, you're paying the wages of someone local, and putting some tax dollars back in your community.

Ya I hear ya. But when it's almost twice the price as online... I mean i know you see what I'm saying here on the pedals.

Hows the flats side? Are they slick? I've read some complaints about them being easy to slip off. Also read that the bearings wear out quickly and aren't sealed well compared to the 500 series of these pedals.

Haven't been able to wear them out yet but I have these and the black 500 series which are actually slicker and easier to slip off, for hard core MTB I would not suggest them but for occasional non-clipless use they are great

Nothing wrong with that. Any friends with an old pair? Maybe you'd get them for next to nothing.

I got some used Richey SPD pedals for free. Now to find some shoes, and some cleats.
With that being said some SPD cleats better than others? Or are they generally all the same?
Best place to get them? Best place to get shoes?
