I had to exchange the chain on my Trek 6500 and forgot to count the number of links on the one I returned. Is there a website that can tell me how many links to leave in the new chain?
Before connecting your chain, wrap it around the big ring and the big cog and through the derailleur, then pull the ends together. Leave just enough links that you can run big to big without damaging anything, in case you inadvertently shift into this combo, which over the course of time is very likely to happen.
