I have disc's now. Those things really bite hard compared to the V's. I can't say that the v's don't do as good of a job if setup correctly though.

I have to watch myself on lever pressure now vs the V brakes that's for darn sure. Esp my front disc. Good night that thing is touchy!

I like v'brakes. Especially with "soft" gray pads. (lots of control, work better in wet, way less noise, long lasting)

Diamondback softee brake pads $3.50-4.00 /pair, maybe less if you look around. I've given $2.50 for some.

You kids and and your fancy brakes.

I just ordered some Paul cantis, so pretty:

I'll probably join the 21st century on my next build.......or maybe not if Paul's hyperbole proves true:

"SOME NOTES WORTH READING: These are very powerful brakes, and have a tendency to over power thin tubed frames (in any material)."

Wow, that Stealth hub looked great, till I got to the price page. $415! I'm sure it's all it's advertised to be, but I can't buy that right now. If I was still single I'd probably get that.

The Pauls stuff looks great, but it's also top shelf, and with a price to match.

Pauls has some cool v-brakes! They are basically posts with little brackets that clamp on them somewhere, to hold your pads. I've seen people use them to convert frames from one wheel size to another, but at $100 a brake, it's pretty high.

Pauls v-brakes for STI and road levers:

$125-135 EACH (front or rear) http://www.treefortbikes.com/product/333222381648/107/Paul-Components-MiniMoto.html?gclid=CKTX3svDvLQCFaGPPAodSWMAQQ

Pauls v-brakes (adjustable reach)

My favorites are still the Cane Creek "Direct Curve" (no noodle, no rubber boot, no noise, no slop, $35 each)

For connoisseurs of shiny, spendy things for their bicycles (and people who wear tweed and wrist watches), check out Velo Orange! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_C1XrRVl3W8k/SsuowBw28eI/AAAAAAAAJMU/xMQ4Yw1H9yk/s400/poly+and+kyle.jpg

I got one of their cargo bike kickstands for a motor bicycle and it's great.
