I personally disagree with that. The OP posted an incident that happened and it triggered responses. If the OP would had posted a positive response from a driver that would have triggered all of us here to respond with their own positive encounters.

i think the driver was a jerk and leave it at that
I do however see people on the road (in the road)
with their bikes, and it is the law, they have just as much right to the road, with their bikes as our cars/trucks ans SUVs do
but they (many, not all) don't obey the laws and traffic signals
I see many of them run through red lights, not use turn arm signals, not stop at all for stop signs and ride through cross walks, this breeds disrespect for bikers in general, so that is where the guy got his GREATER disrespect for bikes and riders

This is true. We as riders have a responsibility not only to others so they may respect us more, but to ourselves and our love ones. We also need to signal our intentions too, a driver can't read our minds, they don't know we want to turn, I haven't seen a arm signal in years from a rider, they just turn left in front of cars as I watch the cars slam on their brakes honk their horns and give the middle finger salute. And personally, the rider deserves it! Even I while driving my car has had to yell at a cyclists because of some stupid thing they did in front of me.
If we all started to practice obeying the law more then we would have less conflicts with cars. But this all for not, because very few of us will listen and so life goes on.

I agree with that, if any of us post a positive encounter that'll cause other's to post about their positive encounters. Likewise if someone posts about a negative encounter others will likewise post about their negative encounters.

If froze thinks this is funny, he'll think this is hysterical:
I have had a smoker in the passenger side of a car in the lane next to me, at a red light, throw a still lit cigarette butt at me and it landed in my lap, (remember I ride a recumbent). I picked it up before it could burn a hole through m bike cloths and held onto it. As the light turned green as I was starting through the intersection I flicked it it back at the guy who threw it at me and it hit him in the side of the face. I heard him yell "OWE, THAT BURNS!!!" as I pedaled away. They were in a left turn lane only and had to turn left while I went straight through.
Yes I was aiming at his head and I believe in returning fire with fire.

Oh my god that was indeed hysterical!!! Man wish I had been there to seen that...better yet a passenger in the car when his face was hit!!! I would had been laughing my arse off.
I never had anything that funny happen. The oddest thing I did was a guy turned right in front of me and my elbow some how hooked onto his passenger side mirror and I couldn't get it unhooked while trying to maintain control of the bike. He drags me around the corner and down the block at speeds up to 48mph! I'm yelling at the guy to stop, which he delays in doing for 2 blocks! Finally he slows down due to a light and I was able to get unhooked, but he runs the light knowing I was a little perturbed. I go to a gas station to call the cops but their of no use even though I had a partial plate, in fact the cops thought it was funny! Great. So I leave there and ride about 8 or 10 blocks when I spot the truck in a parking lot. I ride up and sure enough my pedal had ground a circular design in his paint and his mirror was slightly broken at the base. So grabbed a pen out of my seat bag and a business card a wrote: "If you want your mirror back here's where you can find me", I put the card on his wiper and broke his mirror off and took it work. He never called...imagine that! That mirror sat in my office for 4 years, and people would ask why I had that on my desk.

I think you assume too much with this comment. How do you know this driver has any disrespect for cyclists? If he does, how do you know this is where he got it from? Unless you know the driver personally. Do you?

Much as I like and agree with this... where I live, it'll get you SHOT...at. Along with the diatribe:
"YOU CRACKA MUFU, WTF U DOIN? THIS MY CAR! YOU COULDA BURNT A HOLE IN MY SEAT, YOU MUFU! I WILL KICK YO ASS!"
To which, I always say:
"You couldn't kick my ass if I helped you! STFU!"
(This PARTICULAR exchange has never happened, cuz I never have occasion to 'return' a lit butt, however, I have been threatened.)

Q 1: Why does he assume I don't have a car?
Q 2: Why does he assume I can't afford one?
Q 3: Does he know (the breakdown of) 'ASSUME'?
A 1: He's stupid enough to believe that NO ONE over the age of 12 would choose NOT to have a car, and use it at every opportunity.
A 2: If you don't visibly occupy one, then you don't have one, and that can ONLY be because you've done something stupid like not get a job that pays enough to BUY that ALMIGHTY CAR.
A 3: Guaranteed he doesn't, it takes a facility with words he would have learned had he only stayed in school and paid attention.
