Geez, man, I'm glad you got out of this "relatively" unscathed.

I'd avoid contacting him, that's for the courts and insurance companies to sort through.

I'd let the situation rest for now and focus your energy on healing up.

Every cyclist on the road is too valuable to our community to lose to imbecile drivers.

yes, don't contact him. it will cause issues with the insurance guys and might make it so you get no money

Glad nothing got broken.

Don't contact the guy if you have any thoughts of suing. Anything you say to him can be held against you in court. And it could make it harder to get insurance claims ect.

Also see what insurance cough's up before going sue happy. If it's not enough for medical bills then try. You just gotta see if it's worth it or not. I'm not a sue happy kind of guy but it sounds like he put you in a world of hurt!

The sooner you talk to a lawyer the better.

My wife the nurse says that when getting hit on a bicycle, it's not "if" it's gonna happen, it's "when". I don't ride highways anymore, there are so many nice bike trail rides, but I really wanna ride to the park 'n ride this coming year.

I even sold my scooter so I wouldn't have any excuse. But the ride would be three miles along a 6 lane state highway. Yes it has a bike path, but there is nothing to keep a vehicle from clipping you, and the drivers are so drowsy at 5:20 AM that they might as well have been drinking.

Adding to this, sign nothing until you talk to a lawyer! Don't cash any checks either.

Gandalfe, that is very true! I do commute by bike in to work from time to time and it can be a little crazy. I dress as brightly as I can to make sure that I am seen, but all it takes is one person texting or fiddling with something in the car to end it real fast.
