I'm undecided on this. I can argue both sides. I travel Nueces routinely and don't have much problem with the way it is now. The stop signs don't bother me as I use them as a training tool -- if you accel hard you can really make your quads sing.
Moving the stop signs to the cross streets may decrease safety (have you noticed how many drivers don't seem to stop anyway). There is a false sense of security as a bike rider when you "have" the right of way.
