This is my go every where bike. I commute on this one most days (with clip on fenders) and it's a blast on my Sunday morning MTB rides.
I'm lucky because Kyoto has a river that runs the length of it and I can ride along a dirt trail from my house to Kyoto station (9 km) on my commute with of course no traffic lights. It is fantastic to have this choice if I'm late.
It's a Gary Fisher CrMo Aquila under that paint. At the back I have a short cage ultegra deraileur with a road cassette.
Love Love Love

I'd have to say the ultimate commuter would be a '97 Diamondback Sorrento, preferably found in the trash, with an LX/XT kit from a '96 X-caliber.

Bomb proof, theft proof.

It's perfect.

LOL, well I changed my Jamis Allegro 1 to my "everyday/utility" machine, it's done well, I was a bit worried about a alum. frame to haul a trailer but it's working just fine!

BTW, I bailed the "chainstay kickstand" infavor of a "Click Stand". Just didn't like the "pressure" of the bolt on kickstand on a "alum." rear triangle. The Click Stand isn't quite as handy but it works fine and I don't worry about "damage".
