You're Not Too Short to Commute

I was surprised when I saw this Latino guy ride up and lock his bike up today at the Bart station. I was surprised because, I've seen this guy riding all over my city, even when I'm driving, and he's always riding his bike. It's a GT BMX bike. This guy stands no more than about 5 feet tall, but he rides his bike like he commands the road. He is indeed, a great cyclist, I've seen him rip through traffic with mad manuevering skills, and to just be on a BMX, he's pretty fast too. He didn't speak much Engish, but all I know, is that he feels he's to short, and that he likes his bike!

Just goes to show you, you're never too short to commute...

I know, I've seen it...If you can't find the right bike, because you think you're too short, just get a BMX!

Why does his ethnicity matter?

There seems to be much anti-Latino sentiment building up in some areas of our country these days. I'd just like for everyone to know that I'm one person who truly enjoys all of humanity. I loved interacting with this Latino guy and I'm proud that I got to meet another devout cyclists, even though he was of a different ethnicity.

Good question, Hack!

I rode my race bike to work a few times, when I was about 33 or 34. The "angry bees" of the freewheel from a 24" bike at speed made me feel like a kid again.

I saw the short word. Glad you got to speak with him. You sound like a tall person. Short has a lower center of gravity, ya know. zoom.
