are there any websites for component upgrades for recumbents or hand cycles ?? Would like to upgrade my Invacare XLT 7 speed but can't find a thing.

Theres got to be something you can do. List the components that are stock on your cycles. I am almost sure they use stock items to build with.

they do - but for the normal bikes you can just be a complete driveline

the sites i have been looking at, the manufacturer's sites, all have parts listed on their sites for their recumbents. did the manufacturer not have any upgrades?

In most cases (dare I say all cases, but best to check to be sure), the only thing really unique to a recumbent is the frame and seat. The rest- drivetrain, brakes, tires, tubes, cables, brake levers, pedals, cranks, gear cassettes, hubs, gear shifters, etc., are pretty much the same as anything you might find on an upright/DF bike. So go to your favorite bike shop (brick-n-mortar or online) and go wild!

If you have any questions about whether something will fit your ride, ask here or your local bike shop, or on the bentrideronline.com forums - there's usually an expert there hanging about to help you.

I have seen them listed on some sites but never checked out what is under the listing. I think ran or catryke (is that right name, ha ha ha. ) had hand trikes on their site

Utah Trikes and Angletech Cycles both handle special needs recumbents and might be able to advise you. We still don't know exactly what you have in mind by "upgrades." Modernizing your drive train could get involved. Getting any more gears on your drive wheel might mean spreading your dropouts, which is no mean feat on a fork. How much will depend on how many gears. Besides the frame work, you'll need a new wheel, new cassette, new chain, and new shifters; and the shifters will have to be compatible with your current derailleur.
