I'm in the hunt to build one as we speak. I'm looking forward to it, as it will be my virgin adventure in bike building. I've been reading up and looking around, but is there any advice anyone can share? Keep in mind I consider myself still new to biking, but I'm all in!

Well it looks like I'm an under-achiever in this thread, because I recently bought my single-speed, a white 2010 Trek Soho S. Right now it's all stock, but I plan to change the grips out soon and probably the pedals too. It's a ton of fun to ride, and I'm already thinking of riding it again tonight instead of my road bike.

Check my registry for old and inaccurate representations of my bikes, both bought and built.

I've got campus pedals (SPD on one side/platform on the other) on my single-speed bike, and like having the option.
